You’ve Got The Love

I’m not the mushiest romantic in the world. Yes, perhaps my favorite movie is “Breakfast at Tiffanys” and I may drink my water out of a wine glass at times, but I prefer to think of that as more Vogue than girly. Judge if you may, but someone reading this is pulling their wine glass out of a cabinet right now and taking it to the faucet.

That being said, I love accessories and any reason to buy and wear more accessories to add to my ridiculous collection. With Valentines Day fast approaching, I’ve taken to a particular trend with gusto and made sure the store is also stocked accordingly. Love. Yes, the love trend is huge right now, seen on celebrities (like Bar Rafaeli picture below), it’s popular in necklaces, rings, tattoos and bracelets.

ImageI’ve made certain that our collection at Gameday Cloth includes this hot style as well as quite a few others I’m “loving” right now. (get it?)

Like I said, I don’t really need an excuse to collect more accessories, but February is as good a month as any to buy for yourself if you’re looking for a reason, and especially to buy for someone else. Below are some of my current favorites – perfect for a gift, or to keep for yourself.

1) The Nepal beaded bracelet. If you don’t already have one, get one. In fact, get a few.

2) Bangles and bracelets. This picture is chock full of trends, the cross wrap in bold colors, the Hope bead, the Love bangle. Pick a few and layer them on.

3) This purse necklace is absolutely adorable. Need I say more?

4)Yes, that is a mustache necklace. And a robot necklace. And an elephant necklace. I die.

5) Finally, if you have to give a little love, why not do it fashionably? The heart and locket looks expensive, but the cz’s keep it affordable. And the dual heart necklace is too cute the way it holds together when it hangs around the neck.

Gameday Runway

A couple weeks ago we hosted a runway show, styled by the fabulous New York fashion & beauty blogger Emily Loftiss of Loftiss Says. She pulled looks from Gameday Cloth & Ella Bleu to create what I personally think was sheer fantasticness.

Our cute models included Alex of Eat.Style.Dallas. and Carly Patterson, 2004 Olympic gold medalist, along with wonderful customers who volunteered to model whatever we threw at them. We got lots of love from local bloggers, including Molly from Pretty in Pink, Alexis of Stylish Gameday and even a shout out from Cynthia of Oh So Cynthia. All around, it was a fun night and if you missed it you need to make sure you not only watch the video from the night, but put it on your calendar next time we post an event.

On the Catwalk

This is one of my very favorite times of year. It’s not just the beginnings of football season AND Shark Week, but it’s Fashion Season! Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is gearing up in NYC, with every other show following around the world. And here in the retail world we have Fashion’s Night Out coming up September 6, 2012 to promote shopping, mixing and mingling.

Since we’ve never exactly followed the rules at Gameday Cloth (ie: pairing zip-back flat bills with cardigans and loafers on men, offering fabulous current trends in women’s sports apparel), we’re having our own night. Thursday, August 30th here in the store we will be kicking off football season. And unless you live under a rock, or just don’t really care about the unofficial sport of the South, then you already know the University of Michigan and the University of Alabama will be facing off at Cowboys Stadium that Saturday! (go SEC! *ahem*)

We’ll share more deets soon, but put it on your calendar for 2 WEEKS FROM TODAY! However, first and foremost, we are looking for models. As I said, it’s Fashion Season! We’re spicing up our usual Tailgate Party with a Fashion Show, displaying all the latest trends, styles and all-around amazingness we have to offer here at Gameday Cloth. But we need you, our pretty little friends, as our models. There’s store credit to be had or possibly, if you rock it hard enough, you can keep your clothes from us. Men & women, high school through “when did I graduate?” We’re looking for you all. Contact me directly if you want to talk about it but ACT FAST. This event is 2 weeks from today.

I’m giddy about it I’m so excited. We have so many cool things in store for you. It’s awesome.

Email me at jana@gamedaycloth.com. Let me know your basic info: male/female, size, coloring, team, age, etc. And make sure you put our Fashion Tailgate on your calendar!!! Thursday, Aug 30th. And we need YOU to get in on it and model with us.

Are you a good fit?

We’re hiring new part-time brand representatives at Gameday Cloth. If you think you’re a good fit, please send your resume to gcloth@gamedaycloth.com. I tend to think we’re a pretty cool bunch of people and quite fun to spend time with, but I suppose that’s always up for debate …

BOOK IT!

BOOK IT! is a literacy program that’s been around for as long as I can remember. I don’t’ know if you remember your elementary school participating back in the day, but it was a big deal to get my Pizza Hut pizza! I won’t bore you with all the details, but suffice to say it’s all the rage again.

One – We have the super soft and vintage Tshirts on our website.

Two – 100% of the proceeds from the sale go back to YUM Brands and the BOOK IT! program

Three – Everything Tim Tebow touches turns to gold and he was recently named the spokesman for BOOK IT! (PS – We had the shirts in-store and online before this addition).

You can read more about the program here. If you’re a student and want the BOOK IT! program in your classroom talk to you teacher. If you’re a teacher, appeal to your principal to get this program in your school. Literacy should be a constant focus both in and out of our classrooms.

Hello from Vegas

It has been a long day here in Vegas, scouring over 100,000 square feet of fashion trade shows so that we can bring you guys the best that we can. But as I sit here in my hotel robe and slippers with my tired feet up, I will tell you that I am the luckiest girl in the world. A very tired, lucky girl.

We definitely picked out some fantasticalness that I cannot WAIT to get in so that everyone can see it. You are going to love it! – I hope – But I definitely love all of it and it’s totally unique and different. There’s sports, there’s fun and there’s fashion. We’re bringing it all this year.

We ended the day cruising around the ‘Street’ show with a beer, checking out what was happening on the 2nd floor. It’s a show with style similar to it’s name and it felt like a Street-style circus. We saw a pair of guys jamming on acoustic guitars together, a game of dice over a pack of cigarettes, half naked promotional girls for various brands, clouds of smoke of multiple varieties and a half pike in the back with an intense skate competition, the last jump height at over 15-feet.

But we also saw the upcoming fashion trends. What’s eventually coming to Texas is already in ‘Street’ and we’re keeping our eyes open. We saw slimmer styles, bold colors, thick glasses and lots of flat bills – girls, boys, young, old. Think Redfoo from LMFAO meets Jay-Z. I can’t wait to see how it’s done when these styles finally reach Plano, Texas.

For now I need some dinner and drinks, but we’ll get back to it tomorrow, finding awesome, unique and super high quality goods you are going to love!
